"I want Heritage, Authentic & Royal"

The Story

When the founder of House of Amritsar approached us, she had three words that carried the weight of a legacy: Heritage, Authentic, Royal.

Her vision was clear — to build an authentic Indian clothing brand rooted in the cultural richness of Amritsar, Punjab. But more than just a fashion label, she wanted a brand identity that would speak volumes at first glance. It had to feel regal. It had to feel rooted. It had to feel like Amritsar.

As a design and marketing agency, our challenge was to translate this deep cultural and emotional narrative into a timeless visual identity. We immersed ourselves in the textures, architecture, and symbolism of Amritsar — from the elegance of traditional embroidery to the grandeur of its royal heritage. Every element, from the typography to the emblem design, was carefully crafted to reflect not just a brand, but a story waiting to be worn.

The result? A brand identity that embodies the soul of Punjab, carries the grace of royalty, and feels unapologetically authentic.

House of Amritsar is a testament to what happens when vision meets strategy — when culture is not just preserved, but celebrated through thoughtful design.

This is the kind of story we live to tell.

The Ideation

Crafting the Identity: Behind the Design of House of Amritsar

Designing the identity for House of Amritsar was nothing short of a creative pilgrimage. From day one, we knew this brand deserved more than a logo — it needed a symbol that carried cultural weight, artistic finesse, and a deep sense of place.

Our process began with exploration. As a team, we sketched and developed over 30–40 logo variations, experimenting with a range of typographic styles, icons, and cultural motifs. While many designs came close, none of them truly captured the essence of Amritsar — until we turned to the city itself.

In one of our deep dives into visual references from Amritsar, we were struck by the ornamental patterns found on the doors of historic Gurudwaras. One particular floral motif stood out — delicate yet grounded, elegant yet powerful. It became the foundation of our final design.

We also drew inspiration from the architecture of Amritsar’s city gates, specifically the arched tomb-like silhouette that now forms the upper structure of the logo. This shape, iconic to the city’s historic entrances, became a metaphorical gateway — a visual threshold between heritage and modernity, echoed by the rectangle that frames the symbol.

At the heart of the logo lies a subtle yet meaningful detail: the central form is inspired by the Punjabi letter ‘ਅ’ (A) — a nod to the brand’s name and its cultural roots. It was important to us that even the typography whispered the brand’s origin story.

After countless combinations, trials, and iterations, the final logo came to life — a harmonious blend of tradition, symbolism, and refined design. It is a mark that not only reflects the brand’s identity but also resonates deeply with the land it proudly represents.

This was more than just a design project — “it was an act of cultural storytelling through design”.
